What a Week!! 4.28.14

I have so many things to be thankful for this week!

My online class finished up and I passed with a 98%!  Now, I just need to pay down my amex so I can afford another class in the fall!  Geesh, grad school is expensive!

Signed up for Rugged Maniac in Southern Indiana with my friend Megan D.!!!  Can't wait to get muddy again, it sounds crazy, but I actually miss it!

Our TLC Tom's Squad group gave an awesome presentation Wednesday!

Arden is getting so big!  It makes me sad, but then again, she can get her own juice box and keep on playing.

One of my (favorite) students nominated me for a Teacher Appreciation Award, so honored and blessed to get to know this guy and be a part of his life

Working on Aquaponics posters for the Museum, we are at the "Rough Draft" stage, proud of my kids for working hard!

Bradley got a haircut (finally), went to a UK baseball game and had club meetings at school.  This week has been cray-cray!!!  But man, I love it!!

Obstacle Training - add one more!

So, my TLC Tiger Fitness crew is starting to get back together.  My friend Ashlee and I have been running pretty consistently (except for Spring Break, but who does anything on Spring Break...?).  We do the Couch to 5K app and then the 7 Minute app as well, loving this workout!  And now, we are adding 4 more players to the team!  I love it, the weather is nice, grass is green, air is fresh and people are wanting to get their workout on!!  I told my crew that if they want meetings after school, they will have to do a "walk and talk" with me and get outside.  So far they are excited (words words words), later this week I will see if they are up for the challenge.  (It's walking outside, seriously people.)

Blog Content

There's an interesting article about the content of blogs here.  Read/Scan through and practice the art of posting to your blog.  Practicing this habit will only make it easier, you will gain confidence as a blogger, and readers will continue to visit your site because you are consistent, have decent content and are writing with confidence.  Practice posting this week, at least 3 different times (not only in blogging class).  Space it out over the week, maybe one today, one on Saturday and one on Monday, for example.  Today we will be reviewing grades (because progress reports come out very very soon) and practicing the art of posting.  If you need support in finding topics, it is always nice to reflect on the past week and maybe write about what you learned, what you did to "pay it forward" or maybe something you are struggling in and get the feedback from fellow bloggers.

Happy Blogging!!

Blogging Class Wednesday 4/9/14

How to make a hyperlink?  Hyperwhat?   Hyperlink!

By definition, a hyperlink is....
noun
1.
a link from a hypertext file or document to another location or file, typically activated by clicking on a highlighted word or image on the screen.
verb
1.
create a hyperlink between (documents or parts of a document).
"thumbnail images that are hyperlinked to a larger image"

That's the formal definition, or you can click here for the hyperlink to another definition.

A hyperlink is when you connect a certain word in your post that you can click on and it will directly take you somewhere else.

Here's another few examples:

Ms. Baker's Blog  (possibly changing to Bakr Blog, like tumblr, get it!)

Your challenge:  On your post today, you can write about a topic of your own choosing.  Example:  funny cat videos, Spring Break dream vacation, summer jobs, etc.  However, you have to include at least 2 hyperlinks in your post.

Example:

This summer, I have applied to work in Frankfort on an Arts Integration workshop, information can be found here.  Ms. Mitchell and I hope to work together at this workshop and learn some valuable instructional and PBL tools for TLC.  I also plan to spend lots of quality time with my family.  Bradley is planning on attending a Summer Camp at Lake Cumberland and I plan to chill at the pool with my precious girl!

Rubric/Expectations:
Post added to your blog for today.
Post contains minimum of 2 hyperlinks.
The topic can be about anything you like.

Good Luck, I will check these at the end of class, please leave open in your tabs.
